Bieber Down but Not Out; F1 Heats Up

Justin Bieber Still Has Some Fans

Social media rushed to criticise Justin Bieber last week when the 19-year-old left a peculiar message in the guestbook at the Anne Frank museum. He wished that, had she been alive today, she would have been “a Belieber”.

But now that the dust has settled some big names have actually come out in defence of the Canadian singer.

Will.i.am described him as “one of the most talented people I have ever worked with.”

He called for the press in particular to get off his back, despite Bieber’s recent outbursts including spitting at a photographer.

“The dude was in freaking Amsterdam. He could get sex because it’s legal, he could get drugs because it’s legal, and now we are making a hoopla because he said, ‘I wonder if Anne Frank was a Belieber?”

Perhaps more notable was the remark from Anne Frank’s own stepsister, Eva Schloss.

Schloss who was held prisoner at Auschwitz, and is thus perhaps slightly better positioned than most of the social media commentators to take offence, said that Bieber might be right after all.

“It’s so childish. She probably would have been a fan. Why not? He’s a young man and she was a young girl, and she liked film stars and music,” she said.

“They make a lot of fuss about everything that is connected with Anne Frank.”

Vettel and Webber Still Not Best Friends

After the drama at Sepang you would be forgiven for thinking that Formula 1 stars Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel have had enough time to kiss and make up.

Well, apparently not, and to make matters worse for the Red Bull team managers, Webber has now been linked with rumours that he is planning to quit F1 next year – something that Manager Christian Horner has tried to play down.

“They’ve never really got on but they push each other, they’re competitive and it’s worked. Before changing anything I want to see how things settle down and how we move forward,” he admitted.

“When the time is right in the summer we will talk about the future. I have no problem with this line-up. They have been very successful for us. We’ll sit down and discuss drivers when it’s a bit more pertinent in the summer.”

Vettel meanwhile has continued to stir the pot after the three-time world champion ignored instructions not to overtake Webber who was comfortably leading the race to take the top spot on the podium.

“I don’t know what the big deal is. I didn’t mean to ignore the team order,” he said.

“But having thought about it, I probably would have done the same thing. I was faster at the end, which is why I was able to overtake.

“On the one hand, I am the kind of guy that respects team decisions, but on the other hand, Mark was not the one that deserved it at the time.”
