Opposition to Anwar’s Rallies Grows

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's string of illegal rallies continues, but the support for those rallies is evaporating daily. After PAS announced that it had accepted the election results and...

Investors Agree that English Plays Vital Role in Malaysia’s Education System

Education was a cornerstone of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's GE13 campaign. Indeed, the long-term commitment of the Government to providing quality education for our children...

Take 3

Democracy Anwar-Style

After a rancorous battle in PKR that included a press conference by deputy president Azmin Ali decrying nepotism and a lack of democracy in his party, Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim has been sworn in as Menteri Besar of Selangor. Was this democracy Anwar-style?

THE GOVERNMENT'S TAKE

This is sheer hypocrisy by Anwar and his party, who have spent the time since GE13 claiming Malaysia is not a democracy while ignoring democracy in their own ranks. It is our hope that Selangor will now be run contrary to PKR principles – democratically.

THE OPPOSITION'S TAKE

Whatever Azmin’s complaints, he has since endorsed both Khalid and the Sultan’s right to choose his MB (after a slap on the wrist). Pakatan’s leadership achieved a consensus on Khalid as MB, and we are committed to showing Malaysia that Selangor can be governed well.

OUR TAKE

The simple matter of allowing state assemblymen to vote on their choice for MB has been a debacle for Pakatan in Selangor, and proof that Anwar only favours democracy when it favours him. This should be an eye opener for Khalid, who will now hopefully work closely with Putrajaya to resolve Selangor’s long-standing problems.

Azmin Ali’s Antics Prove Awkward for PKR

Azmin Ali’s Antics Prove Awkward for PKR

It is safe to assume that Parti Keadilan Rakyat leaders probably aren't spending their first weekend post GE13 as they had hoped – much less after Mohamed Azmin Ali's latest antics.

In case you've been hiding under a rock since Barisan Nasional's comfortable win on May 5, allow The Choice to recap.

This past week the PKR Deputy President seems to have gone to great lengths to distance himself from his superiors in the party – namely the family ...

Khairy’s Voice Of Reason Cuts Through The Tension

Khairy’s Voice Of Reason Cuts Through The Tension

In the anxious 24 hours after GE13, few politicians were in a state to make rational observations about the result. But Umno youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin was a rare exception.

"What we got yesterday was a reprieve," he tweeted with brutal honesty. "If BN doesn't deliver on the change that people demand then GE14, khalas (it's over)."

He has continued this incisive response to events via Twitter days later following Terengganu Menteri Besar Ah...

A Mandate to Continue the Path of Transformation

A Mandate to Continue the Path of Transformation

Datuk Seri Najib Razak has just won his first election despite a "tsunami" of Chinese defections to the DAP. He has delivered what, in retrospect, should have been close to impossible. In the process, he has cemented Barisan Nasional's place in the political firmament for the next five years.

In his first election as Prime Minister, Najib reversed much of the damage Pakatan Rakyat inflicted in 2008. Kedah has returned to Barisan Nasional, and Um...

Only joking

  • One of the top lawyers for defacto Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim - Kamar Ainiah Kamaruzaman – needed a break from the pressures of the court room and noticed a playground with children playing near her office. She decided it would be nice to have a break during lunch and watch the innocent children play.

She chose a bench near two young boys who were laughing and talking.

The first child said proudly "My Daddy's an accountant –what does your Daddy do?".

The second child said, "Well, my Mother is a lawyer!!"
