Shahrizat Decries DAP’s Threatening of Perak Female Exco

Wanita Umno chief Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil on Saturday added to the pressure felt by Perak DAP chairman Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham and his cousin, Nga Kor Ming.

Ngeh is Beruas Member of Parliament and Sitiawan state assemblyman, while Nga is Pantai Remis assemblyman. Nga is also Perak DAP secretary.

The wayward pair are at the heart of a corruption scandal that is rocking the heart of the DAP leadership, and casting doubts on PAS’ ability to lead in Kelantan.

The PAS Government in Kelantan is alleged to have awarded his company, Upayapadu Plantation Sdn Bhd, a stake in a massive land project as a ‘reward’ for turning down the post of MB after GE12 – something both men deny.

Yet the pair have clearly been shaken by the allegations.

Perak senior executive councillor Datuk Hamidah Osman has lodged a police report after she claimed to have been harassed by Nga.

In her report, Hamidah said that she was in the dining hall of the state legislative assembly building at 3.30pm on Thursday when Nga came up to her and allegedly said: “You revealed. Watch out. I will go after you.”

Hamidah said the only revelation she had made at the recent assembly was that two state DAP lawmakers had allegedly received the 4,359ha of land in question.

It has been alleged it was offered as an appeasement so that Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin could hold the Perak Menteri Besar post, despite DAP winning the majority of seats there at the last General Election.

“I think this is not the culture that should be inculcated among the politicians,” said Shahrizat when asked about the police report, explaining that having different ideologies and political beliefs didn’t mean that a person could simply threaten another.

“The threat given by a DAP leader to Perak Industry, Investment, Entrepreneur Development, Tourism and Women Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Hamidah Osman is indeed a shameful act.”

Meanwhile, the calls for the pair to resign their posts until a thorough investigation has been completed are building, even from within their own party.
